Trans Canada Trail leads to economic benefit for communities along the route

    Every year, trail users spend more than $13 billion at businesses and services along their route, and trail activity supports more than 220,000 jobs across the country.

    The Trans Canada Trail Care Grant program helps connect communities across Canada. Close to $13,000 was announced this week for trail groups in this province, including money to help fix erosion along the Corner Brook Connector. Coordinator of Community and Volunteer Development, Lexi Rosen, says the program opens during the spring and has engaged thousands of volunteers in its five-year history. A 2023 report shows that communities along the Trans Canada see enormous economic benefit. Every year, trail users spend more than $13 billion at businesses and services along their route, and trail activity supports more than 220,000 jobs across the country.
