Two people have been convinced and fined after lighting a fire without a permit. Charges were laid as a result of investigations by Resource Enforcement officers after forest fires in Brigus and Harbour Main last year on May 11th.  Officers say the forest fires started from fires that both individuals admitted to lighting for the purpose of burning garbage.  Provincial forest firefighters, water bombers and local fire departments had to be called to extinguish the fires.  Kevin Power of Cupids was fined $500 on October 12th last year. Barbara Thomson of Harbour Main was also fined $500 on January 11th of this year. Both people did not have a permit to burn and were caught lighting a fire within 300 meters of forest land.
