Tuesday afternoon, a 55-year-old man travelling with a group died after being trapped underneath his snowmobile in a river near Angus Lake. RCMP Cpl Jolene Garland says the man ended up in a brook. The unresponsive man was removed from the water by his friends who administered countless rounds of CPR. Efforts to revive the man were unsuccessful. Deer Lake Search and Rescue was engaged, along with the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC). The man’s body was taken to Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook.
