There’s some wet weather here and on the way for the west and southwest areas and government is keeping an eye on the situation. It has already brought power outages to Pasadena, Humber Valley Resort, parts of the northshore highway,, George’s Lake and Port au Port. This weather system has the potential to bring very significant rainfall amounts, possibly more than 200 millimetres of rain from Cape Ray to François in the coming days (December 19-21). Residents are encouraged to monitor the Environment Canada forecast for the most up-to-date information. Rainfall is expected to be heavy at times and could produce localized flooding. Municipalities and local service districts should review their emergency management plans and ensure infrastructure such as roads, ditches and drains are clear of debris. Homeowners should secure loose items around their properties, ensure sump pumps are in working order, and consider moving important documents to higher ground.
